I like the VG8 controller - a lot. In addition to what you might typically program them to do for PSG emulation, the pedals and levers could be assigned to any strings and saved into patches that could be used for alternate tunings. Maybe it would even work for lap steel?
The guitar rails idea would need some tweaking. Since the distance from string to fret increases as you go up the neck, the rail would have to follow that contour and the tolerances would be minuscule. The neck width would also have to be maxed out. I'm not sure how it would feel to play standard guitar style on such a beast. but it would be worth a try.
Combining your two ideas would make for a very interesting instrument. |
