i have noticed that most steel guitars the left right knee lever lines up with the b pedal or the middle pedal. when you have to play the a pedal alone its very hard to do this with out hitting the left left knee lever as well. i like the pedals centered between the left knee levers that way you can hit the A pedal with out hitting the left knee lever. what is the proper way of doing this with the knee lever to the right of center. thanks sid

I think the standard layout works well if, like a lot of players (me included), you sit in a line with the 15th fret. Doing that automatically puts our left leg at an angle. That requires the left 'knees' and the principal pedals to be offset.

Also, make sure you are bending your foot at the ankle and not moving your knee. I've seen players bitch about the knee levers actuating when they swear they aren't touching them. Looking carefully revealed they are moving at the hip and not just the ankle. You should be able to bend your ankle in both directions without your knee moving.

You need to wear the proper foot wear to allow for good ankle rotation.
