As seen in the 1939 catalog, this is a vintage 1940s Oahu 230k amp. Built and sold by Valco/National, these amps were originally intended to be paired with lap steel guitars from the same family. It wasn't long before players realized how great these things sounded for other styles. It sounds full-bodied and syrupy, with surpringly high headroom that attracts jazz players and pedal-junkies alike.

It has a really cool-looking tube complement: a 6N7, 6C5, 6N6, and a 5Y3 rectifier. It pushes somewhere between 8-10 Watts through its original 8" Rola speaker. It has been recapped and its power cord has been upgraded to 3-prong grounded. All transformers are original !

It's in great condition cosmetically, even has the rarely seen dust cover. It is in fantastic sonic condition!

All original vintage tubes, with a 6N7 and 6C5 in the preamp, and a rare 6N6 on the output side. Like the Valco National amp, it provides just enough grit to be dirty using input one and is ridiculous with humbuckers. Input two is the secret weapon for single coils with a bit more volume and outstanding tone. The stock Rola 8" speaker delivers a very tight, focused sound. Also works great as a harp amp.

! Matching lap steel guitar sold separately !

$700 + s+h
