Tomorrow I take delivery on my new Beard Mike Auldridge 8 string that Paul Beard has been making for me. What makes this special is that it will contain a custom Fishman pickup in it. It will be the first one.
When I ordered this guitar back in september, I had discussed having a Fishman pickup, like the one I have in all my 6 strings installed. Paul said it would need a different pickup because the Fishman wasn't the right size for the 8 string.
Imagine my surprise to find out that Paul was able to come up with a custom solution that made it happen. Can't wait. |

So, Bill, what is the nature of the solution? Two Fishman six string saddles cut back to 4s? Two six stringers side by side and overlapping? Or some other pickup entirely? |

You got me. It is a modification somehow of the original fishman, but not sure how he did it. |

Howard Parker might know. They used his 8 string as the prototype for mine. |

I don't know much except it required 2 of the Nashville pickups. I don't know the configuration.
I had intended to pick up my 8 tomorrow but life may get in the way.
I will say that Paul was really happy with it.
That makes me happy.
