Not a lot is said about our female steel guitarists. Here is one of the early ones on her Bigsby...She was fun to watch as she really got into it...Those who grew up in So Cal might be familiar with her..rj

I remember Buddy Merrill from Lawrence Welk. One heck of a player.. I think he might have been about 16 or 17.

I remembered Marion from the Ranch Party shows, and when I began playing the joints around the LA basin, she would occasionally show up to Hershel Witt jobs I played. She was a real nice woman. She'd gotten into real estate by that time... early 70's. After I moved to TX, we'd occasionally talk over the phone, and Cindy C. got to know her real well in her later years.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

We watched Marion on TV on one of the Los Angeles stations when I was a little kid at the China Lake Naval Ordnance Testing Station. My dad would comment about Joe's "double-handled" electric guitar, and the beautiful lady playing the "electric table guitar."

Marion Hall and Buddy Merrill (with Lawrence Welk) had the first steel guitars that I can remember.
