I was lucky to catch these guys at Grimey's in Nashville this past weekend. I'd never seen either of them play live before, and needless to say they played an outstanding set from their tribute renditions.
Jay Dee and Lloyd were kind enough to sign my newly purchased record store day LP after the show, and I got to be the 10,000th person to tell them how "Sweetheart got me started playing steel guitar." Such inspiring players. The tribute recording is outstanding btw.
ps. pretty sure that is Dan Auerbach from the Black Keys on the rhythm guitar. |

I've heard of him Charles, don't know about the Black Keys, but there's a recent article about him in a music magazine. He says that Robert Quine was his uncle.

The CD just arrived, phenomenal playing! There is a general listing of musician credits but no listing per song. Are JayDee and Lloyd playing twin steel throughout the album? |

Well I guessed completely wrong (unless my stereo system wiring is messed up!) On "One Hundred Years" the smoother more mellow tone seems to be on the left. I would have guessed Lloyd. The faster licks seems to be on the right and I would have guessed Jay Dee. |

LP finally arrived. Best E9th steel album ever! Love these tunes, and the band sounds more country than the Byrds ever did (that's a good thing!).
I also got the CD, but I have to say that the LP sounds better, on my system anyway. If you have a turntable, order the vinyl. You won't regret it. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

I was lucky enough to see Lloyd and JayDee's show at the Station Inn in Nashville on April 22nd. Absolutely spectacular! The playing was stellar -- by all! The Sweetheart of the Rodeo was a real eye opener for me in '68 and the show reprised all those feelings for me 50 years (gasp!) later. I'd been emulating pedal steel sounds on guitar with bends and a volume pedal, but the LP started me on the road to taking up the instrument and then exploring the country music catalogue -- which I'm still doing. Thanks, Lloyd and JayDee, for turning me on to years of music and joy! And thanks for a great show!
