For me, I have to have something in the F/X loop for six-string. I use a Steelaire and built a custom switch box so the switch from "steel" to "Telecaster" is on adjacent switches. I'd switch channels and F/X loop in/out.

If I was still gigging, I'd invest in an Atomic Reactor AmpliFire pedal for that. When I did this last, I used a Behringer VAMP 3 with heavily customized patches. The power connector on the VAMP3 almost makes it unusable for gigging. Plan was to find a PoD but then I left that band.

A JOYO American Sound ain't bad, either.
