S-10. The way I figure it, if the back neck is on there anyway, you might just as well play it as lean on it. |

Absolutely. It was E9 sounds that attracted me to PSG in the beginning but the first instrument that crossed my path was a D10. I'm glad because otherwise I would never have discovered the joys of C6! Now I play an S12 uni.
I get the impression from some of the posts that the SD layout isn't just about getting the hands further from the body but also the feet _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

All I have is a smaller S10 right now, and it is great for taking to multiple practices or gigs a week. I love that aspect.
My next guitar will be an SD10 though. Primarily for the knee lever placement. I put flags on the outer two levers of my current guitar, and that helps, but without them, the LKL and RKR are kinda awkward for me to engage.
Ideally, I'd like to get an SD10 to set up at home, and keep my S10 for gigging. _________________ Proud parent of a good dog. |

You all have been an immense help to me in my decision making process.
Although the S10, didn’t get quite as many votes as the SD-10, a couple of thoughts kept coming into my head... My Dad’s LDG, MAKES ME SWEAT
I did have a little concern about Knee Lever Placement on the Single, and although the SD, could’ve been set up exactly like my D-10, I also kind of wanted something other than a Double Bodied Guitar... the S10 I’m getting is actually on an S12 body so will have a big enough surface behind the neck to put a small pad, that shouldn’t be a big sweaty problem.
I’ll be getting the guitar at the Dallas show in March and it’ll be shipped to me a couple days after that... When I get it, I’ll put up some pictures of it on this thread, so you fine folks can see what you helped me with.
Again, many thanks _________________ Dale Rottacker, Steelinatune™

I should have mentioned knee lever placement as well, maybe. _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

I'm just curious, with regards to knee lever placement, doesn't an S10 limit the amount of knee levers? Can you comfortably fit more than 5 knee levers (i.e. LKL1 and LKL2, etc.)? |

I would actually prefer something inbetween the S10 and SD10 body sizes, something that would accomodate a narrow pad, no more than 3 inches. Made from leather, not vinyl. |

Buy whatever feels comfortable to you....
For myself, I never feel comfortable playing a S10/S12. The knee levers and volume pedal always are in the wrong place on a single frame. SD10/SD12 would be my vote.

Per, this is the guitar I built myself. Technically it's an S12, but I made it SD width (11") because I wasn't sure how much room I'd need underneath for mounting the cranks etc.
As it turned out, I could have made it narrower but I like it the way it is, like an SD12 but with the neck at the centre line. Because the pedals are far enough away and the five levers have some leeway, it isn't cramped in the way the Robert dislikes, although because it's keyless the pedals are all well to the right and some might not care for that. You could put a narrow pad on it, although I've never wanted one.
If I build another I shall probably do it the same. _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

Gary Rittenberry built this one for me. I'm 5'8" and this fits me perfect. Excellent instrument.

Greg, my guitar will be 5x6... on the original order of an SD10 I was going to get 4x7... When I changed that to a SINGLE 10, I had to move the Staggered LKR to the floor... 6 wasn’t an issue, but that may be because the body is actually a S12 body... On my D10 I had moved the FLKL further ahead by about an inch and a half, so I’m just catching it with my kneecap almost, but it’s a really light pull so is still very comfortable... on the Single the only knee levers that will move forward will be the ones on the left side that are against the back apron on my D10... I’m guessing about 2 inches so I think I’ll be able to handle that. _________________ Dale Rottacker, Steelinatune™
