I was listening to some "old" music recently, and heard the song "I Love You Because" by Leon Payne (1949). Excellent steel guitar. Anybody know who the steel player was/is?

Thanks!

Thanks You so much Teija for that link. My Dad who was born in 1920 sang a number of Leon's songs when I was a kid growing up. I did not make the connection until years later after it was too late. Leon Payne was a great writer and a great vocalist. And I see he did way more recording's than I ever had a clue of. J.R. Rose

Listen to the lyrics on this one:

When did you last hear a songwriter rhyme "frowsy" and "blowsy"?

Don't mean to stray off topic, but as long as we're talking about Leon Payne, his rendition of Joe Lopez is one of my all time favorites that really showcases Leon's talent as both a writer and a singer. Give it a listen and you'll see what I mean.

Hey Mitch, Never heard it before and maybe never will again. Thanks for posting that, great old music. Reminds me of my Dad who sounded a lot like that. J.R.
