Someone painted this with house paint so I had to strip.
I'm confused, what type of wood is this, the back and front are totally different to me, both stripped clean
Help! Lol

I am thinking that the difference in appearance, top vs. bottom might be explained by different attention to pre-finish grain filling in production with less concern about the unseen undersides.
I am often confused by the similarity in appearance between walnut and stained swamp ash. Those Fenders were made with both and I don't have the skill to identify what you've got there. Date might help. Jody Carver has said that the early guitars used walnut but it was discontinued. |

Looks like ash to me. Was it blonde or brown? The brown ones were usually walnut and blondes were ash. |
