Hello Friends,
Excited because.....I got my first Pedal steel, a late Fender 1000, yesterday. After about 3 hours cleaning (soooo much oil on it, fixing an adjuster screw (whatever you call those things that adjust the "pedal down" pitch) and restringing it, I COULD NOT STOP PLAYING IT!
Just set up for the factory A6, and just using pedal 6, there wss that '50s/'60s sound!
Scared ... I can't figure out what to do with the other neck. On my Stringmaster I like the C6 with a high G, but don't know if there's a use for it with A6. I'd like the Bud Isaacs tuning, but can't pull three strings at once as far as I can tell. Oh, and now I seem to have even more options for each note!
Crazy - I have a gig this afternoon.... should I use the 1000 or the Stringmaster?

Any thoughts as to what E13, and what pulls? I can pull 2 with one pedal, and 1 with the other. |

Take the 1000 and tune the other neck to your Stringmaster tuning. |

If you have a pedaled A6th with an E on top you really won't need a C6th with a high G anymore... it's all the same with the 5th on top...
I'd try E13 as previously recomended or some sort of B11th... which relates or may extend your A6th depending on what pedals you got on that.
An early version of E9th may also bring back memories.
Finally look at Speedy West's tunings (ask Scotty or check out the Winnie Winston book..)
