I ran in to that zz video the other day when I was searching for steel playing on Act Naturally. I was wondering how the lap player was getting the pedal licks in.
As far as the amps go, about 6 mo. ago I was talking to a tech at MusiciansFriend who had recently completed a touring roadie gig with some band, can't remember.
He was saying everyone was using samples now with a row of fake amps. There will be one or two stacks but the rest are for show.
The app for concert bands was a little pricey but it enabled complete flexibility with lights, sound, etc. and had the wall of screaming marshalls sound or anything you wanted.
Just like the the apps guys have on their ipads now instead of using rack gear. So possibly this is what zz is using. I don't follow them enough to know but they could be using backing tracks for full sound and harmonies, samples for what they play or maybe they just show up, show their face, swing their beards and get paid... |
