Just listened to a couple samples on Amazon, nice looking cover art. Have to hear more samples when available, might be a possibility.

Just ordered it... always loved Rusty's playing... had the privilege of opening for Poco once and what a fun night.. it was so cool to have my steel set up right next to the man who inspired me to play steel !

I was disappointed. This is a vocal album - there isn't a whole lot of pedal steel on it. Also, I ordered the LP (from https://blueelan.com/artists/rusty-young/) and they sent me a CD. I thought 'LP' meant vinyl. Maybe it doesn't anymore. Confused

BTW Jim, your link in the top post doesn't work. I suspect it contains a personal tag for your account.

Thanks, b0b, I removed the link. Well, steel guitar aside, are there great Poco-like harmonies?

Yes. It sounds a lot like a Poco album to me. Very well produced. I just don't care to listen to much vocal music. My collection is 2/3 instrumental. I mostly buy vocals to learn specific songs or to stroll down memory lane.

The main reason I stopped buying Poco albums was the lack of steel. I don't suppose I'm alone there. Rusty did write some good songs and became a very good singer, but I started calling the band "Pino" (Poco in name only) a long time ago.

It sure would be nice to hear him in a situation where he is back on steel and banjo, playing that mix of wild funky weirdness and trad sweetness that we came to love him for.

I complained to Blue Elan and they admitted their error in sending a CD. The LP arrived today. The cover, front and back, looks exactly the same - just bigger. Haven't listened to it yet.

One advantage of LPs is that you can play one side or the other. When I got the CD, I bailed on it about half way through. I just listened to Side 2 of the LP and heard some good steel and a real pretty instrumental called "Seasons".

I wish Rusty Young would produce a steel guitar album and start performing at steel shows. He has a lot of fans in the steel community. I sometimes wonder if he realizes that.

A friend of mine was in Los Angeles in the late seventies. He saw Rusty perform in a small club with just an acoustic.
I agree bOb. To listen to a whole CD can be tiresome. Especially when, we as musicians, always try to analyse what's going on there Sad
