This Rick has metal mounting plates for the PU's and tuner pans. This a factory configuration? Any opinions on this setup?
Thanks
Jim

Yes, the tuner cover plate is normal but missing on a lot of them, of course. Those pickup "plates" are an integral part of the pickup. They are magnetized and effectively the string goes through the pickup itself!

The concern is the metal plates under the PU and the tuner pan, not the tuner pan cover and horseshoe string-thru PU design. Are these plates factory stock? Do they affect the sound of the guitar?
