I have the "Franklin" change on P0 of my 10 string E9th steel. I haven't found a way to incorporate that yet. I could use some help. I learn from examples. If I can hear I think I could learn how to use it.
Experimenting with it hasn't been useful so far. My guitar came with this change already on it. I just don't know what to do with it.
Something to follow would help me learn where it fits. On my own I am stumped. Any examples, songs or sound bites would be appreciated. |

Thank you, Greg and Mark T.
Woodshed "lesson" tonight. Will see how it goes.
Anyone else aware of released songs where Franklin change can be distinctly heard?
Thank you,
Dan |

Tim, your videos were super helpful. I don't have a feel where I would use the counterpoint. But the other "Franklin'y" moves, yep, I get it. I practiced with tracks of songs my band does, and found some phrases that present, then resolve lots of tension. Very tasty. Looking forward to working it in.
BTW, your guitar looks very similar to mine, except I use P0, instead of P4. Doesn't seem markedly better either way.
Thanks for sharing the info. |

here's a couple of tips , maybe a different take on the use.

These U-Tube tracks were done as an experiment with a Boss Micro BR recorder as a preamp in front of the Yamaha workstation. Yes, I purposely used a bunch of delay and reverb. This was done easily 10 years ago.
I don't own either the Boss or the Yamaha anymore and have not since maybe 2010 when I went to Pro Tools.
And also yes, both of these songs are available with TAB. ( shameless plug ) _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders

Tony, very nice. Good ideas, they make sense. I like the phrases where you added the 9th string lower. Thanks!
Beautiful tone. I'm sure you've been told before. |
