STOLEN GUITAR

My 1928 National resonator guitar was stolen out of my car in Berkeley on May 1.

1928 National series 1 Tricone guitar. Square neck, Hawaiian style. Bright metal "German Silver" finish.

#488 is stamped on the back of the head-stock.

With any information please contact Lloyd Elliott: LLOYDEL@LLOYDEL.NET.

Do I get it right that this guitar was signed by Sol Hoopii ?
That would be fantastic and even a bigger lost LLoyd : ( .
I wish him all the best that he get's his guitar back.

Guitar is FOUND!!

NOT STOLEN.

It was not stolen but accidentally left at the Monday night gig. Returned today.

I am very embarrassed, but oh so happy.

Thanks for all your support.

I do not believe or claim that it is signed by Sol Hoopii.

I think that Fred Gouveia, the original owner, and his current girlfriend wrote the names of his musical heroes on the back of the cover plate in Honolulu in 1928. It also has the names Sam Ku, Eddie Bush, and Lani McIntyre. It seems unlikely that they would all be there to sign the guitar.

It also has the line "You're the one rose that's left in my heart." The title line of McIntyre's song later recorded first by Jimmie Rodgers. I've learned the song, and call the guitar "Rosie."

Fred Gouveia was from a Portuguese "Hawaiian cowboy" family, who moved to the SF Bay area around 1925.

I bought the guitar from his daughter-in-law in 2010.

So happy to have it back!
