I was just wondering what most steel teachers and players would suggest when the singer sings from high to low octaves,
Should the steel stay with that octave as in highs with highs or when a singer goes low should the steel voice low along with the singer ,
I realize it shouldnt be copycatted but I always think this way when playing and im a little confused sometimes, it seems to differ , is there a way to bounce back to home when confusion starts, I know you all know what im talking about and sometimes it turns out DORKY... HA HA HAA What would Buddy do ?

EDIT , just to clarify things, This is not something that happens every song just when your in with a band filling in as a first timer , the listening level skyrockets when your like a deer in the headlights

Uncle Don Helms had a great rule re backing a singer...

"When Hank sang low,I played high...when he sang high,I'd play low"...

Words to live by.
