Just bought my 2nd RICKENBACHER a prewar B6 but it is a restoration project.
The output jack faces the player so it was probably made in the late 1930's. 2 vol/tone controls on high string side.
The pickup has no output when connected to a amp and the horseshoe 1 1/2" chrome is rusting. Everything looks original from pots to caps and tuners. Darn 1 tuner is not original and someone replaced the original chrome metal plates for the white celluloid probably due to rust. Even the 2 screws holding the neck to the body were rusted..
Anyone know of a source for metal plates??
Who do you recommend to send the Ricky out for restoration/pickup work?

I just finished a pre-war B7 for Bobby Ingano. It had the usual chromed plates, that were in rough condition. He didn't want to deal with re-chrome, and told me to paint them white!! Well, those plates, to my surprise, were brass & not steel, like later years. Do I had to lightly sand blast them to get the chrome off, and paint them white! And, the whole thing needed re-wiring, pots & output jack.. Don't know how long he had it, but likely in his stash !!  |

It is a nice prewar B6 just needs the pickup rebuilt and some plates.... |

The pre-war bakelites have a serial number stamped on the end. The one I just did was in the 700 range, so likely later 30s.. It usually starts with a Cxxx etc..
I did one for Derrick Mau, which was in the 200 range, so I Figured it was mid-30s, when they began production. |
