. I was told when I bought ser# 1246 that it was a 68. The famous emmons serial number list also puts it in the 68 range.

Was that John Widgren's 68 ? John's 68 was one of the best sounding steels I ever heard or played. Those 60's Emmons have something special going on.

yes, these are older pictures. It looks the same but I will wait until I have time to take more pics. I fell into that trap once before with older pictures.

I would love to own that G2. As you can see Dustin likes knees and pedals. We just couldn't work a financial deal out.

Just a question.
Does your guitar have the "wooden" pedal stop?
I have a 1968 D 10 PP with a decal on front and it has the wooden stop. It's a great guitar.

Hi Bill
You will probably be able to see some wood where the pedal "stop screws" hit the stop.
Not that it matters other than I believe it dates it back to 68 or earlier.

Widgrens 68`- I bought it last year, serial # D-1263. Sounded really good. I sold it after I got hold on D-1280. Jay Dee`s super -68 are D-1281  |

Absolutely his -68. I've tried all 3 PP he have at his place. All 3 sounded great but the-68 had more vibration in the body and to me sounded a tad more "together" ( lack of better Word).
I belive his -69 has D-1299. Jay Dee correct me if I'm wrong. |

I don't think it is that particular year, it's just that particular guitar. For some reason certain guitars just stand out tone wise. Now why I don't know. I don't think any one year is better than the other. I had an 81 that had killer tone and I had a 69 that didn't sound near as good as the 81.

I have a 68 and two early 69 Emmons P/Ps and they all have killer tone and a wooden pedal stop, just like Jay Dee's. I do believe the 67 thru 69 cut tail guitars were very similar and had killer tone. There were a couple bell crank changes in thickness and shape before 69. To the best of my knowledge, the wooden pedal stop does not go the full length of the body, only to the 8th pedal.I'm not sure of all the Emmons changes over the years, but I believe in 70 is when they went to a full length body, metal pedal stop and Fat Back body, but I could be wrong because they mixed parts they had laying to get rid of them.A magnet is a good way to check the pedal stop. Jay Dee or Mike Cass would know better.

It is not the year. It is if the restorer did the job correctly. Restoring an Emmons is not like restoring a sum or sho bud.
