Another of the pioneers gone. His work on "Slowly" caused a lot of us to want Pedal Steel Guitars.

So very sorry to hear this. He led a revolution in pedal steel guitar. May Geri be comforted I know this is heartbreaking for her.

| Bud was one of my heroes in more sense than just the music he played. He was one of the most vibrant, feisty and funny people that I've ever met. Geri was his perfect "side-man" and my condolences to her and his family. He has etched his name in our hearts forever. |

| Bud Isaacs is the 15th member of the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame inducted in 1984. Just listen to his music and you'll immediately know why he was inducted so early. Bud and Geri played the ISGC for many years and their Western Swing style has been sorely missed. God bless you Geri, we know your pain and our prayers are with you and your family. |

One of the first things I learned about the steel guitar was that there was something called the Isaacs pedal(s) and that is what I wanted to sound like. I never met him but saw him perform in St Louis. No one else sounded like Bud.

Bud was a true gentleman, gracious and with a sly and infectious sense of humor both onstage and in private conversation. He and Geri swapped off one-liners in performance; sometimes he was straight-man, sometimes Geri. I don't mind saying I've stolen several of their onstage jokes for my own shows.
It's a great feeling when one of your idols shares his friendship with you. Bud was so very generous with his friendship. Love ya, man!
My deepest condolences to Geri. I wish you strength and peace.

The deaths of these true legends needs to stop. It seem like every week we learn of yet another legend and pioneer of the instrument has left us. Sometimes I am hesitant to even clink on the Gone Home link. Here is my philosopy -- tell all your family, friends, and musicians that you care about them and that you love them. Best wishes to everyone who reads this.

| As others mentioned a True Legend of the Steel Guitar! I can't hardly remember a time when I didnt hear his Classic Steel Guitar song "Bud's Bounce" being performed by him and all the other Steel Guitar Greats! RIP Mr. Bud Issacs! Prayer for Jerry and the Family! |

| We hear and read about those that fought during WW II as being The Greatest Generation and rightly so. There is a parallel to the Steel Guitar maestros that we are so familiar with primarily from the 50's, and 60's. I won't mention names for the reason I probably would forget someone. Each one was unique in their style and sound. We won't see there like again, imo. Thank you Mr. Isaacs and RIP !! |

This past Sunday around 11:00 am I was explaining to a fellow church member the workings of a pedal steel guitar and how it evolved. I told the story of Bud Issacs and the pedal on Slowly. How sad that with the passing of time,there aren't many of these pioneers and legends left.

What can I say? 1954...Webb Pierce..."Slowly"...it all started right there. At that moment, Bud Isaacs initiated a truly seismic event in steel-guitar history. He pointed the way like a searchlight in a dark void.
