Open Jam or Opry

In the late 90's there open jams all around the south Texas area.These were open to all musicians. These were a lot of you good a lot of play time backing the singers. Most of the time there would only be 2 steels. These jams were open to all musicans.Today they have been turned inot Opry shows with a set band in place and open only singers. I know of several Oprys that have the same musicians.

I guess this the new trend. The steel jams are great but not really a lot of playing time.
