I'm trying to figure out why there is a different sequences in these serial numbers on two Nashville 400 amps. One has a beginning prefix of 9A and on the plate has 89A which I assume is a 1989 model?
The other has no prefix at all. Only the serial number. Any idea how to determine the year model? From previous posts I'm able to ascertain that only serial numbers after 085xxxxx have the factory installed mod kits. Both have black corners. Please feel free to educate me!
Thanks,
Dave

Adding my question to the mix which I just asked over on the "Back to Nashville 400" Thread.

A question for Mike Brown. My NV400 ( Black Corners, 1501-DT) has a lower serial number of 00-05590450. I have read and re-read a lot of the older NV400 threads but cannot get an idea of how old this is. Can you tell me when it was manufactured?
Thanks,
Scott |

yeah, '84. By '94, chrome hardware had long been history.
I don't know what year[s] they made the transition, but I bought 2 brand new NV400's in 1990, mfg. in 1989 with black powder coat hdwe. Serial number prefix 9A followed by 8 digits.
Here's some info from the Peavey forum re: serial #'s.

And in another post from Mike Brown: This serial number and later had Peavey mod installed at factory which began in mid 1999 according to Peavey's "31 yrs" paper in their support documents.

Oh yes, this kit is for those amplifiers that were shipped prior to s/n08575482. |
The amp in David's first photo doesn't show a prefix, but I'm guessing as near as possible from the data in that serial number link, it's likely a '97.
I would also venture a guess that Scott's is a '95. |

Jerry,
Thanks for the info/link to the Peavey Forum post.
The info within regarding Peavey's policy on not providing Manufacturing dates for old Peavey amps should be a Sticky Note on our forum.
If I had known about this I would not have wasted my time trying and failing more than once to get any kind of response from Peavey to my queries about serial numbers vs mfg. date. |
