Topic: Using a JamHub Headphone Monitor & ADAT for Headphone Mixes |

A couple years ago I bought a JamHub (7-channel) GreenRoom headphone monitor, and was trying to figure out how to get a custom mix to, say, 3 or 4 people in the studio with several mics, with each person (up to 6 people) able to control the volume or their input signal...individually, while recording. I was just about ready to give up, sell the JamHub, and get that Behringer Powerplay unit when I did this (let me know what you guys think):
What I'm using:
Protools 12.4
RME Fireface 800 Interface
1 ADAT, lightpiped to the RME Fireface 800
Jamhub (Greenroom) 6 channel headphone monitor
Mackie 24/8 Mixer
3 Mics (for example) to record with
1. 3 Mics into 3 channels of the Mackie 24/8
2. Going direct out of the Mackie 24/8, into 3 channels of the INPUT of the ADAT
3. Lightpipe from ADAT to the RME Fireface for recording to Protools
4. 3 channels OUTPUT of the ADAT to 3 channels of the JamHub.
5. Main out of the RME (1,2) to an INPUT channel of the JamHub (for listening to mix)
I know that I'm limited to about 6 channels for custom volumes for 6 headphones (5 channels of 'vocals and or guitar' & the mix), but it seems to work, and lets my client's choose their volumes on input of the their voice / guitar (whatever those 3 channels are), in relation to that against the mix. They can't control the playback volumes individually, but in my experiences, recording levels seemed more crucial. Let me know what you guys think. This is the most convenient way I could think of with what I had...

well it's assumed that each singer is in an isolated area.
You may want to try one or a few of these.
ART "My Monitor" I think $50 at one of the net outlets.
Headphone amp output plugs into this unit, ONE mic plugs in and is routed ( thru) to the preamp which is directed to one channel on your recorder. The vocalist can control their own MIX volume as well as their own MIC volume in their headphones, which is independent of the recording levels.
One per singer. We use this 100% of the time when recording vocals. It may have saved my marriage ! 
AC power , comes with AC adapter or batteries.

The Art unit seems to work good for one or two persons, but I don't see the practicality of it, where several people need to record. You still have to have a 4-8 channel headphone amp to send the mix to the 'My Monitor,' and then it can work.
My RME already does custom mixes (recording in's) if I add a 2nd ADAT, using it's outs to headphones (8 channels, giving me 4 stereo out's). The JamHub allows for the persons to come up and change their own mixes, similar to the 'My Monitor', but more versatile.
