Hello! A steel guitar playing friend of mine is visiting Hawaii (the big island) in the latter half of February and is wondering where he might see some good Hawaiian steel guitar music. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

The Hilo Hawaiian Hotel claims to offer Hawaiian music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights in the Wai'oli Lounge & iCafe.

Konabob has a calendar of musical events on the Big Island on his website.

Absolutely!! If you are lucky, Dwight Tokumoto will be playing that night. One of my favorite steel guitarists anywhere...if you aren't THAT lucky...I will be playing. Very Happy I fill in when he can't make it and if I am in town.

Seriously, if you can make it, it's good fun....a very backyard style and a fun place to spend the night. Great musicians as well...including a killer ukulele player named Victor Chock.

BTW....it's KANAKAPILA
