Low gain when recording instruments into Logic Pro
The original recording has plenty of signal in the computer, but when trying to overdub, the gain is very low. I use a Mackie 1640i firewire as the interface to MAC computer.. Plenty of board signal. It seems it is not getting to the computer for some reason. Has anyone experienced this? I have talked to Apple they have no clue. Help would be appreciated.

It' sounds like the problem might be in your preferences in either the interface or logic s settings. Have you used the mixer with no problems for other projects ? Have you done overdubs before in logic?
Have you listened to the end results or are you going by the size of the waveform on the screen ? Sometimes the waveform is real small but the sound is fine.

The Mackie is less than a year old and I have been using it constantly. There is little wave form. The signal going to the track is 1 or 2 bars. There is a small amount of gain going to there even with the board maxed out. I have done many overdubs before with no issues. I will check the preferences. The gain is so small that when you turn it up to be heard, it is a lot of white noise. I must have pushed something by accident? I have been talking to Apple about it, apparently, I am not the first.
