Back when I was playing the Grand Ole opry with Billy Walker, in between shows I asked Weldon if I could try out his steel and he said have at it.
When I sat down at it, I was suprised to find out that his 2nd string was not tuned to an Eb as the rest of us. It was tuned to a C# open!

Some of the session players on these two albums are:
Woodsmoke and Oranges: Waylon's harp player, Donnie Brooks; David Bromberg-Dobro, guitar; the great Richard Greene-violin and of course, Weldon Myrick-steel guitar.
Jack-Knife Gypsy: David Grisman-mandolin; Doug Kershaw-violin; Bernie Leadon-banjo; Russ Kunkel-drums; Bob Warford-guitar; Clarence White-guitar and Buddy Emmons-steel guitar. |
It's too bad they couldn't have found decent studio players... |

LOL!
I guess there are certain privileges that come with being on the Nashville A Team. Plus, that is some excellent harmony vocal. Well done, Weldon. |

One of my favorite recordings with Weldon's im-pick-able playing (hey! I just coined a new word ) is from Paul Siebel's amazing first album, Woodsmoke and Oranges, released in 1970. The song is "She Made Me Lose My Blues":

Keep on pickin'!

I only knew of Paul Seibel as the writer of Louise. Thanks for posting this link. Amazing singer and writer, and as Dustin alludes, what a band of slouches |

Before everybody else beat me to it, I was also going to cite "Cry, Cry, Cry." One of my favorite quirky Weldon intros.. |

Thanks, Peter. Listening to some clips right now and I agree he indeed had a fine voice. Along with that other little thing he did... |
