Following for sale are two in-stock Ervin Somogyi guitars here at Dream Guitars:
2007 Somogyi Mod D:
Ervin Somogyi was perhaps the Luthier that really defined what a Fingerstyle guitar is. Early artist who were recording solo steel string guitar for the first time went to Ervin and asked for more responsive guitar. He created the Modified Dreadnought, or Mod D. Now a classic copied by many, the idea is simply a full body guitar that is voiced for expressive fingestyle music and slightly rounder to make it easy to hold on either leg. This one is a powerhouse, big and bold with rich, juicy trebles, a great strummed sound and bass to die for. Brazilian Rosewood and super tight Sitka, just like Ervin is known for. This is your chance to own one of the best guitar designs ever created.

2002 Somogyi OM
Here we have a 2002 Somogyi OM in Brazilian Rosewood and Adirondack (Red) Spruce. This is one of the stronget Somogyi guitars we have played, the voice is full on open and powerful! The trademark Somogyi bass is well represented here and it is loud, the mids through the trebles are as usual warm and fat, perfectly complimenting the divine bass. Ervins aesthetic is as good as it gets, with his sculpted bridge, segmented rosette and delicate headstock design, there is as much to love about the looks as there is the sound. This guitar is blissful.

Just beautiful.
Ervin is located a little over an hour south of me, but he might as well be a million miles away because I will never be able to own one of his guitars! _________________ Mark |

I've known Ervin for years. His workmanship is outstanding.
He has a long waiting list for his guitars, and they rarely come up for sale. People who have them hold onto them.
The guitar in the third picture is not one of his, by the way. He's offering advice to a fellow luthier at one of our bimonthly meetings. |

Agreed. Ervin is a living master luthier. One of the few builders whose guitars transcend...they sound markedly better and different than other fine instruments. |

During the Oakland Hills Firestorm, in which I and many others were caught up, Ervin lost both his home and his workshop on the same night, despite the fact that they were several miles apart. He also lost his entire stock of seasoned wood, tools, and all his templates, etc., which luthiers rely on. Fortunately, luthiers are a a tighty-knit society, and, with help from his friends, rather than just give up, he was back in business in just a few weeks. Very few people would have that fortitude. |
