Danny Boy (Londonderry Aire) is one of those iconic steel guitar songs that just about everybody tries their hand at, one time or another, either through Winston-Keith's Pedal Steel Guitar workbook or from hearing a track as worked out by one of the masters.

I've worked at Emmons' take using the E9 on and off since I first purchased the Winston/Keith book, but have not taken a serious look at examples using C6 neck or tracks, mostly since I don't have that neck. I have a lapsteel tuned C6, but it's not the same. You don't get the effect of those deep lows growling and bending underneath the primary motif.

Litaker's Emmons LeGrande does all that stuff, though, and for you guys and gals who work the C6 neck, here's a fine example of C6 capabilities, as well as a a great take of Danny Boy, using Curly Chalker's take as a roadmap...

I didn't know that, Larry. Is it C6 or did he track it on E9?
Thanks guys.

Hi Dan,
William did that one on E9 for that DVD.
But you know William can do just about anything on either neck!
