I recently got my Marlen, a used S-10 3x4 in black mica...
I got this used at what I feel is an excellent deal. Far less than half of the Stadler website's list price.
I understand Mr. Stadler passed away last year. The website's contacts are all invalid. Is there anyone in the Forum that knows about these fine instruments? I would like to date the instrument...The serial number seems to show that it is a 1999... But I could be reading it wrong.

Grant; yes the Marlen company is no more after Leonard passed.
His brother and family have the keys to the door...but are doing nothing with it> so that's the reason of zero contact from the website.
The Marlen has been around almost as long as ShoBud.
It had many progressions in design and mechanics through the years; as well as Shobud.
Yours being the Black Mica...dictates to me as it is indeed the newest one that Marlen built....and I would have to see pics of the underside and changer end to tell you the year.
Good luck...and you most likely have a 90's Marlen and zero-ing in the year is not really that important as that you Have a Marlen....so enjoy the heritage and the legacy of the late great Leonard Stadler.
Here's one of the very earliest ones the Leonard built.

I'll work on getting pictures of the underside and changers. Our digital camera is old and takes lousy photos, but I can borrow a friends. BTW, The Marlen in your photo is the most beautiful PSG that I have ever seen!

| As I remember, Leonard coded the date of manufacture into the serial number. It seems to me center 2 digits (reversed) were the year of manufacture. |

The Serial Number on this one is 99-11-09...
It needs a mechanical tune-up... The guitar sounds great!
Does anyone know of a good tech in the Pacific Northwest as I would prefer not to ship?
