In 1975 Charlie McCoy Released An Album Called "Night Life". Charlie Used 4 Steel Guitarists On The Session.
Can Anyone Identify The Steel player On The Tune "Night Life"?
Curly Chalker, Paul Franklin, Russ Hicks & Weldon Myrick.

I think the tone is too bright for Curly...my guess would either be Russ or Weldon.

Too early for Paul, surely? This was mid-'70s.
Anyway, Roger listed the four 'possibles' (presumably from the sleeve-notes) in his initial post.

Even though some of the straight forward playing sounds like Weldon, the little add lives don't. They sound more like Curley. Never heard Russ play C6th but I'm sure he can but sounds nothing like him. If its Paul, he would have been pretty young.

I agree David except I was assuming it was one of the four in original post, then I would pick Curley but you know what happens when you assume something,

| I agree with David. I think not Curly, Paul or Weldon. I believe it is Russ Hicks. That was a great era for hearing all the different identifiable styles of Nashville's great pedal steel players. Of course I've been wrong before, but that was a long time ago. |
