Do you lower both the 5th & 10th Stg's or just the 5th stg?
If you just use just the 5th stg B-Bb lower, do you use that same KL for a different change on the 10th stg and what change do you use on the 10th stg?

This one gets kicked around from time to time.
My expierience is that there are chord forms and licks that can be found where in some cases you only want to lower 5 and in some cases you want to lower both 5 and your lower B (typically string 9 or 10 depending on your setup).

My reccomendation is to get the rod in place for the lower B, and then you can use it when you need it or back it off if you don't need it.

I lower my B's to Bb on LKV, and I'm currently installing a B to Bb on string 12 of my S12U, in addition to strings 5 and 9.
Why?... I want to split all the B's to C in the A+B pedals down position.

You can always back it off or pull the rod if you don't like it (aint it great!).

On 10-string E9, yes -- lower both
On 12-string E9/B6 only lower 5 if you expect to get the standard C6 (B6) pedal/lever functions -- it's the equivalent to the C to B lever on C6

Jim, I do lower both B's with my vertical KL, but I lower them different amounts.
I lower the 5th a 1/2 tone to Bb, and the 10th string down a full tone to "A". Obviously, even though there may be instances where they might fit in the "theory" sense, I never intentionally play them together when engaging the KL. -- Marc

Marc, what you have on your VKL set-up is the direction I was going on this.
I have used just the 5-stg lower for the past 3 years on my Sierra S-12 E9/B6 and have become use to having the change.
On my new Fessenden S-10, the VKL lowers both the 5th & 10th stgs. I like the idea of the 10th stg going down to "A" if it does not make the VKL "travel" too long.
