I'm sure Tommy will tweak it. But the E9 looks at lot like this. The RKL is lowering both 5 and 10. I can't tell enough about the C side undercarriage shots to comment.
Hope this helps till Tommy gets back.

Surprised to see John's reply. Any halfway competent player can re-rod a guitar in an afternoon. Going from Emmons to Day, or Day to Emmons, should not be a bar to buying a good steel.

I wish I needed a fourth guitar - this would be it!! First, it was Tommy's steel and, secondly, this is almost exactly my E9th set-up.
Except one - I've often wondered what TW does with that extra pull (F# to G: 7th string) on the otherwise standard RKR. I've tried retuning that string and noodling around with my RKR engaged but nothing is striking me as obvious.
(I, too, am mystified by John's post.)

Roger the 7th string 1/2 tone raise is very usable. It's great for 7th chords, and it makes it very easy to play ton's of chromatic licks in the middle of the guitar.
If I remember correctly. The late Tom Brumley stated that's one of the changes he would not willingly give up. Or something to that effect. |

I get that, Bobby (thanks for replying) and I have a whole tone raise on my LKL2 that I can easily 'half pedal' with pedals down for that 7th chord. My question is about adding it to the '2 and 9 lower' on RKR - I can't see how it's helpful in that juxtaposition. As Tommy's forgotten more than I'll ever know I'm sure I've overlooked something obvious!
My apologies, however - this discussion doesn't belong here in 'Steels For sale'!!! My fault for diverting the thread. 
I'm still tempted by this nice-looking Carter!

What a great deal, especially with Tommy's provenance. I recently bought the brother of this guitar, although it isn't as loaded as Tommy's. Carter guitars really are excellent value for money. Tommy has a pic of this guitar on his CD.

The more I study it, the more that RKR makes sense. It's liking having 3 changes on 1 knee lever. String 2 lower I don't think you'd ever use with the string 7 raise, and string 7 wouldn't be used with the string 2 lower; string 9 lower is used with normal grip strings, so no conflict there; so raising (in pedals down position) string 7 to the dom7 note makes sense, and I don't see any obvious conflicts. Great idea from the master Tommy White!

I use the 7th string raise (F# to G)a lot.
The "E" strings with the "G#" are major thirds and with the (F# raised to "G") are minor thirds. Very handy for moving thirds up and down the fretboard by holding in the lever and alternating one string. Jeff Neumann used this change. It's standard on the "Stage One" guitars. |

Danny: I split my 6th string full tone lower with pedal B to get that same minor 3rd, don't even have to switch strings. Never occurred to me to use the string 7 raise for a minor 3rd. Learn something new almost every day! I do think most folks use it for the pedals down dom7 chord. Could also be used as a Dsus4, string 9-7-6, with pedal B.

 Guys, that 7th string raise to make a 7th cord is a wonderful thing to have. I'm just a hack player, but Jimmy Day showed me that on his guitar years ago, and I have had it on mine ever since. ...FWIW

And, as I said earlier, I have that pull (on the same knee-lever as I raise 1 and 2); I actually raise the 7th a whole-step but it's on a vertical and it's easy to half-pedal it for a 7th cHord with pedals down.
I love lowering the 9th and using my A&B (I'm 'Day') pedals for major 9th chords as well as maj7ths - I think having the half-step raise on the same lever would spoil some of that.

I've been playing the same set up over 30 years. I don't find raising the 7th hindering the maj9 or maj7 . By raising the 7th string on the same lever as lowering 2 & 9, other than the obvious minor, minor 6th & dom 7th with pedals down, it has so many uses as John McClung observed, including augmented and flatted 5th by lowering 4&8 combined wth B floor pedal(g#s to A) and the lever loweriing 2 & 9 and raisng 7.
I did notice an error on the chart posted. The RL lowers strings 5 &10 one tone on E9th.
The C6th has the standard base set up with add-ons extended around it.
On topic, this Carter guitar is an excellent instrument and in great condition. It shows no wear and is an incredible buy at this price for this much guitar.
