I went on my annual pilgrimmage to the Grey Fox Bluegrass festival in NY state a couple of weeks ago, and took my new Zum Encore with me. It was a treat to play to the sunset and in the rough camping, the deep cycle marine battery got me about six hours of amp, volume pedal, and Quadraverb.

Very cool Gregg!

I've been putting together my off-grid steel guitar system. We have a class C that we take to Mexico and out in the boonies that I installed a 4 panel solar system on.

Lots of adventures and cool possibilities ahead! Very Happy

Great looking guitar! I really like the wood-grain mica on the Encore.

Wow! That looks like about a $5,000 setup you've got there. Whoa! How much do you have to drive to break even? (Inquiring minds like to know.)

Gregg, you're a brave man taking one of those things to a Bluegrass festival. Did you need security? Laughing

Been there done that, Take my steel to bluegrass get together's too. Had to laugh one night, A man in the crowd said he never heard such thing, playing Rocky Top on a steel. I asked him if the had a copy of the Osborn Brothers original. He said he did. I said go home and listen close, Speedy West was right in with steel on the original recording. This guy has not spoke to me since. Osborn Brothers, Tennesse Hound Dog and Rocky Top and Ricky Scaggs have gave steel players a place in Blue Grass music. Thank you Speedy for giving us a place in Blue Grass music. Good Luck and happy steelin.

Don, Grey Fox is a pretty diverse festival, plus the group I camp with plays everything from alt and classic country to americana, folk, rock, and jazz. The only need for security was to keep the mando player from hogging too much time on the guitar and wearing down the battery Winking. There was even a steel on stage, Rushad Eggleston the crazy cello player had Charlie Rose from Boston with him.

Very cool, Gregg ... several years ago I did a couple of "off the grid" gigs like that out in a field in the middle of nowhere. Had a real great time at both of them. Smile
