Nice Vox amp in the picture Mule. I am tempted buy the Zum Encore for the occasional pub gig in the UK. Ideal to get in and out quickly. Smile

Fraid not Malcolm. I have a general rule for gigs. No stage no steel. Pub gigs have to make do with my Telecaster Laughing

I was playing thru a Peavey. I went back the next day and played the Zum with the Vox. It sure was sweet. I had the Zum delivered to a friends music store. At home I have Peavey 112 at home.

My Encore continues to amaze me! the other day I changed the 3rd and 5th (too lazy to do 'em all!) and I put on an .012" and .018" respectively - no problem in upping the gauges just as Doug had assured me. What a delight it was to simply hook the new strings into the slots on the changer and to not have to deal with pins!!! I wish my Emmons had them!

Here we are in the orchestra pit on my current gig in Vero Beach, FL.

By the way, Doug has gone the extra mile and sent me the requisite components for split-tuning on the 5th string - it was my error as I should have specified this when ordering but I'll be tackling the job myself..... Whoa! Embarassed

Nice one Roger (or nice 2 rather - itchy fingers? Laughing)

The Encore would definitely suit me for some of the smaller, lower end of the scale gigs that I do occasionally. I would be able to order one this year and pick it up next year at Dallas I reckon. An Encore / Roland 80XL would be the complete antithesis to the old ZB D10 with Twin Reverb/JBLs that I used to cart around years back.

James: I had my Zum delivered to a fellow picker who run a music store that sell vintage guitars. I'm trying to hooked yo buy a steel I was playing in the pic thru a Fender 1000. I went back next day and played thru the Vox and it sounded great. My 112 was at home so it was hard to tell.

Ken:

While I have admittedly been using the Encore on whatever casual gigs I've had since I bought it because hauling less weight appealed to me, it's inclusion in the pit at the Riverside Theatre was dictated by the lack of space therein.

The guitar book for 'Grease' asks for certain phrases to be played '...like a steel guitar...' rather than demanding that they actually be played on steel. As the Zum was in my trunk (= boot Very Happy ) I offered it as an option to the Conductor and he seems delighted (so far!). Hopefully my grovelling and fawning attitude will result in more calls from this particular MD... Smile

What is the maximum number of pedals available on the Encore? I do like to use the Franklin pedal, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker if it can only be fitted with 3 pedals.

Four pedals? Definitely available - maybe more.....

I stayed with three to keep the cost down but, if I'd wanted a fourth, I'd choose the 'Isaacs pedal' (raising 5 a step and 6 a half-step).

Anyone got a link to a page for the Encore? I've tried to Google it with no success.

Doug is so busy turning out Encore's and Stage One, he has no time to update his web site. This forum is a good source of info and it will be good info direct from the owners. There are more and more new owners every day. Ask and you shall receive.

Both 5 and 6 regularly benefit.
I also use it on the second string, which I raise to E with pedal 0, which I use more on Blues than on country.

the split is handy on string 4 w: pedal C & lever (E) that lowers a half step/tone
also the pedal A on string 5 w: Vertical lever half step/tone lower

Thank you Lane and Crowbear. This is something new to me and although I have come across it in previous discussions in the Forum, it is worth considering .
