Hi Everyone… I would like to take a minute to see if I can help some of you understand who we are (the ISGCC) and hopefully answer some questions that we have received over the years. We started this organization in 2004 to put steel guitar players and those who simply love the instrument, together in a place that they can all meet guys from all over the world and talk with them one on one via their computer. Over the years it has become a community of individuals who sometime just get together to chew the fat (so to speak) but inevitably it always goes back around to steel guitar. There is a lot of lick sharing and lick steeling. There are lots of questions asked and answered. And there are lots of nights when someone like Mike McGee comes in and shares his knowledge of theory and how he uses that knowledge with the steel. There are nights when the greats like Norm Hamlet or Cookie Jones come in to share some road stories and answers questions that many have. Mike Sweeney and Randy Beavers (two monster players) have been in and unselfishly gave their time to give lessons on all levels to the group. We have had nights where people like Bobby Bowman or me have talked exclusively about repairing your guitars or refinishing techniques. We believe that our community has served our members well and we strive to always listen and add things as the years pass by. Our current membership has been together for a long time and each and every one stands at the ready to help a fellow steeler with his or her knowledge. There is no flaming in our community….no arguments…no profanity. Simply put….it’s a great place to hang out with folks that have the same thing in common….steel guitar. I have personally seen guys come in knowing little or nothing and through the years have watched them grow into players.
Please don’t mistake this message as an ad for the community. Our membership base is strong. At the same time we have been discussing the fact that even more people who don’t know about the room should and some will find it a community that they would like to be a part of. It is a fee based membership and it is not for everyone. If you would like to know more about us you can go to our website at www.isgcc.com and get all of the information including the dues. If you still have questions, I will be happy to answer your e-mails. You can e-mail me directly at rwalker5@nc.rr.com.
My best to you all

Well what a great session we had with Mike. I had no idea that a man could get that much c-6th sound from a E-9th neck, even though it wasn't actually c6th that he was using. A lot of knowledge spilled out last night and I want to thank Mike for taking his time and coming in to share it with everyone.
A special thanks to Jan Jones for making it all come together. No man I know does more for steel guitar folks than Jan. Bobby Bowman....thanks for your help as well and all the other guys who pitched in.
