Just been watching Bruce Springsteen and the band live in NY city and Nils Lofgren played a Carter SD10 on a couple of tunes. Never would have thought it.

Cool Nils is a very accomplished musician on several instruments including the pedal steel. I like the style and creativity that he brings to the instrument. An impressive body of works in his own right over the years as well as with others. He's done several tours with Springsteen.

Here's a shot of him and his SD10 thanks to the fine folks at Carter.

Yes indeed...Going all the way back to the early 70's when he was in his original group "Grin", I was (and still am) a pretty big fan of his. Even back then I remember him playing a Stratocaster with a thumb pick only and he fed a Leslie rotating speaker cab with his amp. So it seems playing a pedal steel would be a natural for him. I believe he's a pretty good piano player as well.

Nils played piano on Neil Young's After the Goldrush when he was around 16-17 years old.

I love Nils. One of the best live albums ever is Night After Night.

Saw Nils back in the early eighties at the bottom line, what a show, loved watching him do back flips off a springboard on stage. Pretty wild. Then a few years ago at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park when Bruce came out and did 4-5 songs with him.

I gave him his first few steel lessons. He was a quick study for sure. Actually, too quick. Soon realized I just taught myself out of the chance to play for the boss! If I was smart I would have showed him everything wrong.

Nils used to come by the liquor store I worked in DC in the early '70's. Great guy. He plays a mean accordion, too!

I once knew a guy from New Jersey, who told me that he was in the same highschool as Nils, and he said Grin played at the auditorium from time to time. He also knew drummer Bob Berberich. That quite impressed me. Oh Well

I saw Neil Young at the Rainbow in London about 1973 .
Pretty sure Nils was the guitar player . I think it was the first outing for Tonight's the Night .The whole show was basically that song to a very unreceptive crowd . He then did a version of Helpless playing acoustic and harmonica with Nils on accordian .
The support act on that show was the Eagles with Bernie Leadon still in the band .
