This is a virtuoso live performance. Joaquin was THE man in the '40s & was the direct link between Bob Dunn & the guys who followed (Speedy, Curly, Buddy, etc.), for hot steel guitar.

This tune is the poster boy for rechannelled stereo. They were obviously going for the dance sound, and it's actually kind of neat. However, I wish they would have mixed the two channels a little tighter together.

The Club Of Spade label put out eight albums that I'm aware of, all featuring Spade Cooley & some with Tex Williams added. Joaquin & Noel Boggs were the steelers.

There's a good site by John McGann for more Joaquin solos and they have the above tune in mono!

Great performance by Joaquin, horrendous stereo processing. I have a copy of Miles Davis' "Milestones" like that. Yuck--gives me vertigo.

Way cool. Thanks, Joe, please keep 'em coming.

To think, that was pop music, once upon a time.
