You can't hit a note right?
I had one of those days today.
Why does that happen? |

David...Oh Yeah! For me I think some of it is what's going on around me,it seems the older I get the more problems I have with fighting busy drummers,it's like they hit a switch in me that makes me just want to go home and then it's a snowball effect, everything starts falling apart.Maybe you can throw me a life preserver? _________________ Steeltronics Z-pickup,Desert Rose S-10 4+5,Desert Rose Keyless S-10 3+5... Happens to me all the time. David, I was just listening to of few of your youtube videos last night and I'd be glad to take you're "wrong" notes. My guess is you're too hard on yourself. Love your playing. _________________ www.facebook.com/countrydaveharmonson |

I've only been playing pedal steel a couple of years so all my days are like that David. I'm looking forward to a day where I can hit some right notes. |

It would seem that,
at times,
the brain has a mind of it's own!
Having only 4+ years w/Pedal steel, some days I just can't get it right.Other times, it comes together.

I have days when I actually do hit a right note. I've only been playing for 40 years so I still have time to get better. I hope...... |

Those days are the siblings of the days that you forget the melody in the middle of the song, not to mention that you also forget the key. |

More often than not. It is my understanding that ingesting massive quantities of turkey will cure it. I'm going to try that today. |

David -
What do you mean - ONE - of those days. I'm a relative novice on the instrument and it seems as if ONE of those days is par for the course.
It'll get better - if I can endure the clams and clunkers for a while longer.
Respectfully,
Richard |

David when I have one of those days it's usually because my head is not into it. MY mind gets distracted so it's better to back completely out of it for a few hours and clear my head. I have to do that when I am mixing too. I'm lke you still don't know why it just happens. I enjoy your pickin buddy... _________________ D-10 JCH Dekley U-12 D-8 Magnatone Mullen RP Evans RE 200 profex 2 BJS bars

No, never but I do run low on rocks at times.
"You know David ever since I started to watch your videos I have managed to move all the rocks in my backyard to one central location.
I’ll watch you perform then take ALL my gear out back, set it up and throw rocks at it.
I want to thank you for helping me with my landscaping.
Sincerely: A great presentation.
Michael" |

If it makes you feel any better, DH, remember that Michael Jordan had days when he couldn't hit a free throw, too. It's the human condition and these days just keep us working all the harder on our game |

David, I have days like that myself, but I always learn from wrong notes. Those wrong notes are somethin' you can learn from. I've been playin for ten years, almost eleven, and I hit wrong notes at shows and when I'm practicing.

I've just had that happen the other night, while practicing. I would call out to my wife and ask for her input on how it was sounding. She told me the songs I was playing needed somemore work on them. |

David on days like that use two amps and a stereo processor and at least half of notes will be right and the rest will be just what's left. |

Last Wed. I was doing the turn for a ballad, and when i went from the 1 to the 5, I was a fret short, and wow, what a clunker. It was just a jam so it wasn't in a big place. I said to the singer, I was sorry, and I wasn't a Hal Rugg. Others agreed to that one. _________________ Sho-Bud LDG, Martin D28, Ome trilogy 5 string banjo, Ibanez 4-string bass, dobro, fiddle, and a tubal cain. Life Member of AFM local 142 |
