The photo of Van Howard, Ray, and Jimmy knocked me out!! 
I was on Johnny Bush's band in 1995 and we were playing a western swing festival in Texarkana. On that tour Jimmy Day and I played twin steels in the Bandoleros, and at the festival JD pulled me aside and introduced me to Van Howard, who looked like the retired banking executive he was. Wise man that he was, Van left the music bidness early and got into finance.
Does anyone know if Van Howard is still with us?

What great pictures. Did you notice how nice everybody on stage looks. NO T-shirts NO holes in their pants almost all have a tie on and the Bands are dressed alike. Why can't Bands have that kind of pride in themselves anymore.

Because, it's not really about pride, Don. It's just about styles that come and go. In those photos they were wearing the styles of the times. They still are. But I agree with you those are great color photos of great people in a great time. |

Don, you disapprove of the way young musicians... many of them, anyway... dress, and so assume they have no pride in themselves. In my experience, there's no segment of the population more proud of themselves and self-centered than young musicians.
There's been a generation gap since at least the 1950's, hasn't there? Young people dress to be attractive to those of their own generation, not their grandpa's age group. Your post implies you'd be ashamed to go onstage like that, which tells us about your values, not theirs.
Not to worry, since most of the wide array of criticism I read here in Forumland seems to reveal more about the writer than about the subject being discussed, anyway. Including the drivel I write as well, BTW.
