I'm selling my near mint Fender 65 Twin Reverb Custom 15. This amp sounds beautiful. It has a 15" speaker. I'm asking 850 dollars plus shipping.

| If you care to swap I got two amps to trade. a peavey 30watt tube with 15" speaker about one year old great shape. also a brand new Fender acoustic 30watt DSP amp.just bought I been wanting an amp like you got for sometime just not that much cash. thanks Jim |

| Is this an 80 watt amp? I'm thinking this would also be a great amp for steel & a telecaster. Anybody ever played a tele through one of these? I bet it would be killer! Is the speaker the same as what comes in the Steel King? |

I have one of these and love mine; out of the 4 steel suitable amps I own I think it has the richest sound. I have tweaked the biasing for steel (clean headroom) and replaced the speaker with a BW 1501. To my ears with the stock speaker (yes its the same speaker that comes in a steel king) you have to be real careful adjusting the treble or it gets too brittle. With the BW speaker the settings are not as touchy. I do like the stock speaker better for the telecaster. If I wanted to use it for both, I would leave the stock speaker in it. You just have to adjust the treble really slowly and minutely to dial in the sound for steel. I also replaced V2 (input tube for reverb channel) with a JJ ECC83S gold pin. To me, it really sweetened up the amp. If were going to double duty the amp and use both channels, I would replace V1 as well. They only cost $15-20 bucks..

| Hi everyone, This amp is 85 watts. Yes I use this for my Mullen steel aswell as my Fender Nocaster. They both sound awesome, a very fat and warm sound. Like Charles I have swapped V2 with a vintage nos GE tube, it really makes this amp sing. I have received some offers for trade, it's tempting but I would prefer cash. If you have been thinking about a Fender Twin don't wait this is it! |

It's a re-issue..... I have one just like it. A nice sounding amp but as mentioned above a bit touchy in getting the highs adjusted. It is also fairly heavy but it does have wheels.

That is a reissue. Twin reverb had 2 12" speakers in 1965. That is what TWIN means.

The original blackface amps had two 12" speakers, the reissues come both ways, this one's a "Custom 15" there's a name plate not clearly visible in the pictures. Back in the "day" they all had just 2 12" speakers, the Vibrasonic Reverbs had one 15" speaker. Those are getting pretty collectible these days and are great steel amps--maintenance notwithstanding 
I always thought the "twin" designation meant it had two channels, one regular and one with reverb. The original "Twin" amps didn't have reverb but did have two channels. I checked Wikipedia and there was no mention of the origin of the name, I'm going on recollection of old ad literature so I may be wrong. We need a Fender historian here. |

I'm fairly sure the "Twin" designation referred to having 2 speakers.The precedent might be the Dual Professional of the late '40s,which also had 2 speakers.Starting no later(and probably earlier) than the narrow-panel era,all Fender amps from the Deluxe on up had 2 channels.
EDIT: That Custom 15 is one nice looking amp.Surprised it's still for sale. |
