Evans FET 500 LV
I just had another post on how to set the Evans. I had a problem with low volume and distortion, but I fixed that by spraying the input jacks with contact spray. I'm getting little shocks from the amp when I ground myself and touch any metal on the amp. I believe it has something to do with the ground being gone from the plug. Does anyone else believe this would fix the problem?

Yes and I would do it before continuing with the amp. Getting a small shock is a prelude to a big shock. Even 1 amp of voltage can be deadly! Don't gamble with your safety for a $2 part.
The hum you are hearing on the Evans is a common problem. All the FET's have a hum that increases with the reverb setting. Not a big deal but if really annoys you it can be fixed by an experienced amp tech.

Ground prong
No worries, I'm going to get the little shock fixed. I was just wondering if you guys thought the ground would fix it. I am assuming that when I touch the metal screws on the top of the cabinet, since they go through the chassis, that i'm becoming the ground and taking the shock. If I fix the cord so that it has all three prongs this should eliminate the problem, assuming nothing else is wrong. Correct?
I'd like to get rid of the hum too, but I guess first things first, and you never know, grounding it could cure it. We'll see.
I'm sorry David you said yes. I'll just fix it then. Thanks for the help.

Fixed
Put a new 3 prong plug on the end of the cord and it fixed the shocking problem as well as the hum. Now it only has a light hum as you turn the reverb up, but i think I can fix that by moving the reverb tank down a little further in the cabinet. Thanks for the help.
