"Tonight I Just Don't Give A Damn" was actually written by my friend (and at the time George Jones' band manager) Jimmy Peppers. George may be listed as a co-writer but that's typical Nashville.

The story about that song - Peppers said he was in a hotel room in Nashville with George and was trying to get George ready to go to the Opry as he was supposed to appear at the Opry that night. But as it was in the "no show" days, Peppers was trying to get George to get ready and George didn't want to do the Opry that night and finally told Peppers "Peppers, tonight I just don't give a damn" and Peppers said he took that and wrote the song.

Actually Jones, has recorded about 20 of Pepper's songs including "Playing Possum", "It's All In My Mind" and "Tell Me Something I Don't Know".

As a side note, I just recently finished a 10 song demo song project for Peppers and copies of the songs went to George and to Georgette Jones as they are both looking for new songs for their next CD's. (A copy of the demo songs will probably wind up with Alan Jackson as George Jones told Peppers that Alan called him looking for new songs for his next CD).

Peppers also sent another song to Georgette - a tribute to George, "A Man Called Jones".

Tom Killen? Nice tone and styles. I hear him drawing from Lloyd Green and Tom Brumley . . . a couple of sweet stylistic wells, indeed.

Imagine having to carry the burden of being the offspring of THE 2 GREATEST male and female country vocalists of all time. It's good but all I can say is.... Good luck!

It's kinda funny but I went to see George Jones a few months ago and actually gave his guitar player a song that I had written called "Walk Away Prison." Sure it was a crap shoot for a nobody but at least I can say I tried. I know he probably never even got to see it but what did I have to lose other than a little pride if he thought it was bad. Its kinda crazy how embarrased I was to give it to his guitar player and actually think that he would even look at it but what the hell it was was worth it. He has been my all time country music HERO for many years and it would mean the world to me for him to do anything that I had written.
