I love it! Keep up the good work. Low tech "warts and all" is just fine with me.
How about "Blue Rondo a la Turk?"
Of course, we all want to know what tuning you used.

Thanks guys, its a 56 stringmaster d8, tuned to standard C6 but a D note as the first string. Most pedal steel players use this version. The amp is a 59 twin with no effects.

And how that resounds for me! The instruments have a lot in common. Before taking up lap steel last summer I'd spent the prior three years immersed in learning saxophone...Paul Desmond (author of "Take Five") being my hero. And now I'm adding Joaquin Murphey to the mix. I wonder if Joaquin ever tried "Blue Rondo a la Turk." That would be some feat on steel. Great job with "Take Five," by the way. |

Thanks that sounded great. I first heard Take Five when I was in high school and went to a Brubeck concert, evening, in the high school auditorium in Fresno CA
First real jazz concert I'd ever been to. Breubeck had just finished tour including, as i remember it, Turkey and hence all the interesting rhythms and counts. Blew me away then, a teenage steeler. Love to hear this kind of thing. Thanks.
