Here's one of the 4,953 p/p's made... Mine!
She was born in late 1977 (s/n 2411 D). As you can see, she's a bit of a "frankenstein" with the black LeGrande pedals. But her tone and playability more than make up for her non-original pedals. She's the only PSG I have, and is responsible for curing my need for more guitars. Everytime I sit down to play her it's like the first time. How cool is that?!
Excuse the blemishes on the photos (thanks to Walgreen's in-store photoprocessing)... I'm old-school and don't own a digital camera.
Here's one from a gig:

Keep on pickin'!

Bobbe, does that include some of those guitars floating around made with repro milled-from-billet stock Wraparound necks and a mixture of Emmons parts?

Those birds-eye Emmons are absolutely fabulous. They remind me of a Bigsby.
What years are they from |

This is it, so far and it wasn't in very good shape when I got it. '65 D-11 wrap-around, yes I know it doesn't have the decal. Apparently the previous owner wanted the "hood ornament" and I may leave it on.
To get the changers apart, I had to soak them with penetrating oil, pull them apart, soak each finger in acetone, lightly file off the crud from the leading edges with a vixen file, then wire brush off the sides. I polished the leading edges then washed them again, first with industrial strength Simple Green then with GOJO hand cleaner and a scouring pad. Some of the fingers have divots, but I'm leaving them on the guitar, for the moment.
I buffed out the front and back edges of the necks, to get out the bar dings and gouges. I'm trying to imagine what kind of bar would do that. I'm also going to leave the original formica.
I'm replacing the underneath hardware, but I'm keeping the top-stuff, like the slothead 4-40's that are hold the tuning keys. I had originally planned on replacing them with socket head cap screws. Of course, the same crud that glued the changer fingers together had made a lovely patina on most of the Klusons and the 4-40 screws. Many cue tips of Simple Green and GOJO followed by cue tips of water, later, they look pretty decent.
The pickups it came with weren't original and had been wound to 28Kohms, so I replaced them with TruTones.
I'd show the underneath, but there isn't anything to see there, yet.

Charlie,
If you do decide to replace the front apron decal, remember to get the smaller one. Ron has them listed in the Emmons catalog. The '65 wraps came out with a smaller decal than the '66 bolt-on's like mine have. Anyway, great lookin axe, I bet it will be a monster when you finish it.

So this is my "new" mid 70's s-10. The pic is from the previous owner, I've taken the 4th pedal off, and switched to a tonealigner pickup.
I do like the sound of the single coil stock pickups more, but the Tonealigner sounds just fine, and I NEVER have noise problems now....... NEVER.
the second pic is what i bought after selling my early 70's d-10 to Peter Freiberger. Yes folks, keep drooling, that is a 1959 Super-Amp. Probably the most amazing amp i've ever owned. It used to belong to J. Geils. Now it belongs to J. Shapiro.
Mostly a regular guitar amp, but i have played steel through it a few times with great results.
