I'm just curious about what other hobbies or interest do you steelers/musicians have? I'm moving to the Columbia, Tennessee area, just south of Nashville, in June, and I love to bow hunt. I would like to hook up with other musicians in the area with similar interest. Steel guitar is my favorite, however I like hunting, fishing, and flying also. Do any of you steelers/musicians living in this area have similar interest. Maybe we can get together and jam,(country and gospel music) along with hunt, fish, or fly, and grill some steaks afterwards. I'll be looking for good places to hunt. I play steel, keyboards, bass, and a little guitar, and own 3 sound systems, ( 1 Bose, and 2 yamaha's) and a BR1600 recorder. Me and 4 other family members are moving there from Texas, and 2 other family members already live in Nashville. Most of them either play, write songs, or sing well. I've played on the road with gospel groups (70's-80's) and also played at small Opry's over the years.

Hey Scott
I belong to the National Sporting Clay Association and shoot on regular basis. Also enjoy building shaker style furniture. I only hope that one day my
steel playing gets to the level my shooting is.

Howdy Scott,

I'd really enjoy getting a chance to meet you, and you're welcome to drop by here anytime you want to.
If you like to fish, and own a set of chest waders, bring them along and we'll head to the creek a couple of miles from here. I've got plenty of rods and tackle, so don't sweat it.
As far as other hobbies, I really am big into the old west history. The Little Bighorn battle in particular.
I also have a bunch of colt single actions if you like to shoot. We have our own range here.
Although I haven't done any Plains repros for about five years now, that's another thing I enjoyed.
For a time, while in New Mexico, I apprenticed under master crafter Cathy Smith, who did all of the main Lakota wardrobe in "Dances with Wolves", and "Son of the Morning Star".

My personal masterpiece, a braintanned Cheyenne/Lakota warshirt done in porcupine quills.

I've done about 7 pairs of sneakers for these goofballs.

I look forward to meeting you.

I am learning to play the panflute, throw competition horseshoes, love to fish and visit historical sites.

I also have a 150 lb, Barnett compound crossbow that I used to use to hunt bear and moose. I just look at these creatures now.

The last and only time I was in Texas was in 1969 to work on a pipeline project and lasted about three weeks. I couldn't handle the non-believable heat.

Being amazed at all the extremely non-steel related topics posted on this forum, while worthwhile steel related topics to enjoy and learn from are increasingly fewer and farther between.

When not playin' steel, I love classic cars-not model cars, real classic cars, especially 1957 Chevys and I'm also an Oldsmobile fan. My number one interest is steel guitar, though, since I'm a steel guitarist.

Steel guitar has been a main interest of mine for years, but, I also like to hunt, target shoot ( black powder, mostly ) run my model trains, and recently, as of a year ago, drive my 07' Corvette. I had 4 Vettes years ago and thought it was about time, to buy one. It sheds years off of me, like diet foods shed pounds.

John, congrats on the purchase of your new 'Vette. I bought a new Mustang GT in '05. I guess a mid life thing. I told the little woman, my next car would be a 'Vette.

Anyway back to hobbys, my other one is nature photography, mostly macro.

Apart from playing and tinkering with steel guitars,I am a serious student of the mandolin. I used to build and fly R/C airplanes but there's no time for that anymore. I've designed and built recording studios since the early 70s and have had my own studio since 1985.I also shoot and edit video and I've been doing that for decades also. Nowadays I work in the legal profession videotaping depositions and such. On the weekends I shoot guns, drink beer and ride one of these fantastic inventions around L.A. to stay in shape and save on gas.

Girls of course Laughing

Seriously, I spend a lot of time with my Honda Ace Tourer. Only 3000 of them produced from '98 to '01. That fits in perectly with my other passion, civil war history.

Black Steel Guitars and

Black Corvettes. Been a Vette guy since the early 70's. We cruise with the local Corvette clubs as much as we can. This one is a 2001 Z06, and yeh , as bobbe Seymour says, "It's vicious" but very tame under 3000 rpm. This may be my 10th Vette in the scheme of things.
