I recently purchased a CAD Trion 8000 condenser Tube mic and wanted to let you guys know that this mic should be in every one of your studios (home & pro)! I have used it on vocals, dobro, acoustic guitars & amp cabinets and it has out performed some of my much more expensive mics (including some vintage goodies). It has 3 polar patterns Cardioid, figure-eight, omnidirectional, all very distinct and useable. Great transparent sound, it's like working with a nice vintage tube mic!!!! You can't go wrong at under $400!!!

There was a good review of the 6000, 7000, and 8000 series of CAD mics earlier this year in ProAudio Review by audio guru Mike Rivers. He mentions liking the non-tube version (trion 6000) for pedal steel.
