You know, I really felt the steel playing live version was much better than the studio version. 'Course that steel player was what I was listening to the hardest...great stuff _________________ Mullen Lacquer SD 10, 3 & 5; Mullen Mica S 10 1/2 pad, 3 & 5; BJS Bars; LTD400, Nashville 112, DD-3, RV-3, Hilton VP . -- Gold Tone PBS sq neck; Wechter Scheerhorn sq neck. -- "Experience is the thing you have left when everything else is gone." -anon.- |

I also love the ACM version, which sounds like forumite Jay Andrews on steel. There was a live opry version on youtube of "If you think you're lonely" with him playing that just tears my heart out. Unfortunately, it's no longer out there. But I also like the other versions a lot.
There sure was a ton of room for the steel in that version of Johnny's band. But that space was sure filled beautifully. |

Well what can you say. A true country singer. He sang with such feeling. Every country singer wantabe should have to study Paycheck's works along with alot of others, to many to mention here. I can't tell how much I enjoyed this post. Great steel work also. Johnny always had a great band with great steel guitar players. Johnny was a pretty good steel player himself. He played some steel with Faron for a while. Again another entertainer who will always be missed and thought of often. GOD bless the man remembered as Johnny Paycheck. Bobby |
