Hiya Charles,

Is it OK to send a file of me in a band context? I really don't have any full-blown instrumentals [at least that I can easily get my hands on]; but I have files of me when I played with Joe King & The Lost Posse and Willy & The Tailgaters. Smile

Both bands did a lot of original material.

As a matter of fact, I haven't done much recording since these bands, circa: 1979-1984.

Files can be sent that have band content but not vocal content.

I will answer basilh in an email. I don't think THE FORUM is the place to solve a problem that might or might not exist.

Post  Posted 1 May 2007 4:42 pm     My options as the web master of my steel player's site
Reply with quote

I want this to be seen by all who are interested.
When I started the steel guitar site, I never expected that anyone would get upset over an error that occured. Well, it seems that it has come to the surface. I do what I do as a service and spend quite a bit of time doing it which is my choice. I am not a perfect person nor one without mistakes.

I hope the following statement is understood by all:
I, as web master of my site, reserve the right to accept or delete a song received or published if it becomes a problem to me or the artist. There are a few requirements that I set forth very early. First, send your city and state with the file to be published. Second, no vocals will be published. It is a steel guitar site.
Third, songs can be changed once each month.

Anyone wanting to discuss an issue on what I do for the steel guitar players out of love for the instrument and respect for the players should do so by email or phone. That is the way I will discuss concerns-------not here on the Forum. My phone number is 972-736-2664 should you want to contact me that way. I will do my best to notify each player by email that publishes a song or changes a song starting now. That way, the artist will know I received the email. I have even found some in my spam file accidently.

I encourage players to send files to me for publishing under those requirements. That isn't asking too much. I think you will enjoy what I do as much as I do.

Charles-I just heard my new song on your site. Thanks again. I had "Whispering"Taped in 1950 for March, then for April,"Blue Moon" taped in 1991, and now for May, "What's New" taped in 1991, This was a big hit for Linda Rhondstat back a few years ago.

Thanks again Tilley, I am sure we all appreciate your efforts on this site......al.SmileSmile

Thanks, Charles for posting my new song on your site.
This instrumental, "ARE YOU LONESOME TONIGHT" has been one of my favorites for a long time.
All of us need to look at the date out on the right after each song title...You can find some of the new postings. I scrolled down the list and found several new song to listen to.
Looking at the "hit" counter, above 11,000, your site is getting plenty of action !!
All you steel players out there....get a MP3 file to Charles !! If you don't have a MP3, there are good MP3 free recorders out there which you can download and convert any audio to MP3. I did not know how a month ago..
Go for it ....LOL
Charles, Keep up your good efforts and thanks...

Hi, John...
Thgis might not help you, but here is a free MP3 recorder you can download. http://www.mp3mymp3.com/
I simply used the microphone input to the computer. This is not the best way, but my sound quality is good.
I had never tried it, so the instructions are good, even for a "blue collar" computer person like me LOL..
Good luck.

Lets try to keep this thread alive !! I know there are people out there who has not heard all this good steel playing.
The good part is.....this site represents a cross section of steel players from all over the world.
There are files by extremely talented players here, alomg with songs by "blue collar" players like myself.
I think Charles has done us a great service here, and hope he keeps up the GOOD WORK !!

Me getting a song to Mr. Tilly isn't the problem.

The problem for me is getting a song played decent enough ya'll won't laugh out loud at me! Laughing

Maybe sometime when I think ya'll are having a bad day I'll send something for you to laugh at to cheer you up! Very Happy

Larry

edited to add,
Mr. Tilly please keep doing what you're doing, I enjoy you'r site very much!

Charles this is really great what you are doing for the musicians. I sent you a few songs , couple steel songs and couple songs from a session I cut at Starday Studio in 1968, Pete Drake directed and played steel on the session. Thanks Shorty

I received the songs but the rules are just one song per player that can be changed once each month.

You will need to select the song you want published.

Howdy Charles...I really thank you so very much for the work you are doing for all of us and by posting everyone's songs on your website. I thank you very much for allowing me to put some of my playing on the site...I have to shut all my equitment down for the time being so we can get relocated ...we plan to leave about the 5th of June and head for Portales New Mexico. I love western swing music and now the Lord is blessing me with the chance to live in western swing country. Everybody have a great day and God Bless.
