Lap Steel

I have a Mckinney six string lap steel serial #X1412. White Mother of Toilet Seat. Are these lap steels rare or a dime a dozen. I see them on Ebay for $400.00 to $500.00. It has a very nice tone. Anybody have any info on this model?

As far as I know, Mckinney lap steels were all made by National/Valco. All the ones I've seen
have the strings-through-pickup design and they really scream. You probably shouldn't pay more than $250, which is what similar Supros sell for.
There are currently 3 Mckinney lap steels on Ebay. Two of them are being sold by Guitar Center. Their starting bid for the lap steels they list is usually 2 to 3 times their actual worth.
