Caps?
Well I am not so old I need to complain about the music, although I didn't care much for it, but I am old enough that I need somebody to explain to me why artists like Zack Brown and others always wear watch caps (at least that's what they used to call them, I think they may call them skull caps now, not sure) all the time. We used to wear those only when we worked outside in subzero conditions.

Darrell,Can understand what you mean about the caps, BUT [just my opinion] The absolute DUMBEST thing to me is to see these nuts wearing baseball caps backwards. Are they that dense not to know the bill on a cap is for shading their eyes not the back of their heads.Or maybe they would perfer cataracts instead of a redneck. Some of the uber-hip have taken to wearing ball caps sideways.Perhaps there is something about inner-city sunlight(or language?) that causes burned ears.Charles Davidson wrote:Darrell,Can understand what you mean about the caps, BUT [just my opinion] The absolute DUMBEST thing to me is to see these nuts wearing baseball caps backwards. Are they that dense not to know the bill on a cap is for shading their eyes not the back of their heads.Or maybe they would perfer cataracts instead of a redneck. Come on in.You guys are so far off base about the Artist & Music that that's why we are where we are with Country Music & Radio Stations with frog jocks and the off the road major cities who cut a deal to make MONEY off of performing with a fire department permit. Them Rockers who are Country Music Business- Men & Women are Pigeon pooping all the way to the bank thanks to people like you who?, who keep them alive by making crazy statements like the UPS next day air box for free.
Change is good if you have some in your pocket.
Just enjoy what steel guitar sounds you get to get for free on TV from them rockers.

acm awards show.
The thing that gets me so frustrated is the fact that, They call Pop music country! I like some Pop music. I like Old standards, like, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Sammy Davis Jr. etc. I even enjoy Mario Lanza occasionally. But Classic country is in a catagory by itself, so why dont they leave it that way. To promote a show as country awards, and then feature mostly pop,or rock artists is INMHO very sad, to say the least!

The(acw&m) ACM is and was a Hollywood neighborhood showcase from the get go thanks to all the California Musicians & Night Clubs call Country. Now,with it in Vegas it's til the sames with everything in the pot and anything to make money to keep it alive. I'm just as heart broke about this mess as you and the world about the real deal called Country Music & Artist. But, it is what it is.

It's easy to understand about this matter and why it is what it is. The one's with the most Money controlls the table. It's a money making Country/Rock N Roll with Hollywood in Las Vegas turn table in Nashvilles hands with all kinds of outsiders-business people paying the way of what you get on Radio/TV and them concerns around the world. To see this neighborhood outfit from 1965 ACM, (acw&m) us musicians & Club owners paid for to build this that has so many people being crazy over it today is great and fun for (The Truth) me. To this new world board of old dogs letting new dogs run it like my lifetime membership is nothing is about as respectful as anyone will get out of this. I can feel for all you musicians who feel like you've been used and abuse from what you really would like to hear, but,it's out of the cards.Just like my book is, " Who Used Who ", My Memories.By Leo J.Eiffert,Jr.. When I get the right money for it then everybody can buy it.Sincerely in Music,Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. @ P.O.Box 5412,Buena Park,California.90620-5412

Gary,
Those artist like George Strait, Alan Jackson, Easton Corbin, Craig Campbell,Luke Bryan, Lee Ann Womack, Reba and others are country. They are country artist.
It's not fair for you to lump them in with artist you consider are not country.
We can all call it country or not. It doesn't change anything. People still buy and listen to what they like. It's always been that way.
You get tired of todays country, being called country. The same can be said of you guys saying it isn't country.
I like music if it's good and I listen to a song before I judge it, no matter who it is.

It goes without saying that the country artist you mentioned are country ! I may be mistaken but i didn't see Alan Jacksons name anywhere and there are others like him that didn't make the cut so to speak . I would never put any of the artist you mentioned in the same category as the so called country artist that were on the show . I suppose i better shut up about this ,i think others have shared their thoughts already ,and for the most part they agree with me . '' Right or wrong ''

The target demographic for country radio music is young women. They are the ones who buy more of it than anyone else, who go to the concerts and sing along. Why is it any surprise that us old musicians can't relate to the music?
Why do you even bother listening to it? I don't. I don't care if they call it country or not because I'm not listening. The music that I like is called "classic country" now, or "Americana". That's fine with me. I like the classics, and I'm an American.

Change in music.
It is not only country music. Even several years ago Farnk Sinatra ask Dean Martin if he thought music would ever make a come back.

Gary,You are not wrong nor are you right. No matter how you cut the cake,it's called music-Business from the heads of New York,Nashville to Los Angeles. If today was the day calling Country Music Country than my old neighbor " Fats Domino " from the 9th ward of New Orleans,Louisiana is a true Country Artist. This cross over thing has been and will always be just like " Otis Redding " sitting on the dock of the bay and waiting for CCR to be an Eagle. So,if Plumrose called Carl Budding ham cheese with Gold N Soft in Venture,Fisher Boy would be like Mike Tyson. It's all chicken feed to fight over Pigeons corn. The next time I'm in Bakersfield at Trout's I'm gonna feel like I'm at the Crystal Palace with my old friends Merle & Buck and let the red head sing me back home. Sincerely in Music,Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. who is a No Body to anybody.
Keep on smiling.

Kenny Foy said,You go Bob! So what part of " I'm An American " fits everybody on here? I'm in but from New Orleans,(coonass)Louisiana with a transplant to California with all styles of Music in me.Now,I get what's wrong with Country Music Today. To many young Artist who could care less about us old dogs who gave them the music to learn from and to turn it into what they think they came up with,a new sound. Not! All these new young Artist of today are shadows of others who they sound like that was here before them. Just like Bill & Fran Boyd and Gene Weed,Cliffie Stone,Eddie Dean and many other who this new board of young members of the ACM who are with a few old ones that would like all to forget about us old dog who gave them this show,or did we? Now what Country Music do you want to keep it like? If you're not happy with this mess of the ACM than write to Bob Romeo Chief Executive Officer & the Academy Of Country Music Staff, Teresa George,Lisa Lee,Tiffany Moon,Brooke Primero,Michelle Gobel,Erick Long,Erin Spahn,Michael Monaco,Michelle Zolezzi and if that don't work than I'm sure Jerry Hufford from Buck Owens Enterprises can Help you. Now if that don't work than go to Nashville and ask John Dorris,Clarence Spalding,Brandon Blackstock,Steve Dahl & Sarah Trahern to help you out as to why is Country Music the way it is. Sincerely in Country Music & all styles,Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. the " I'm A No Body ".
